Points Unknown can be accessed from four different trailheads; on the North end, Upper Copperhead and in the middle and South end, Mid-Ridge has entry points. There is also a really steep chute called Christmas Tree that is more of a bail out or quick descent then a good entry point.

For some reason, Friends of White Oak Mountain decided to make Points Unknown and White Oak Ridge two loops that consist of both trails. If you travel the entire length of the trail, North-to-South, you'll be on both yellow then orange blazes. The same goes for White Oak Ridge, the trail above. But don't let that confuse you. There are trail maps at the major intersections to help keep you oriented.

The only ways to ride the trail end-to-end is to climb up Upper Copperhead and head North-to-South or to ride South on White Oak Ridge until you hit the switchback. The issue with this is that the most fun way to ride this trail is from South-to-North. This gives you a slight negative grade that descends over the steep sections full of loose rocks. If you like the challenge of climbing of loose, chunky stuff, then North-to-South will suit you just fine.

Most of the trail is tree-lined dirt singletrack with a few scattered rocks but has a few challenging sections as noted in the paragraph above. Due to its rating, it's not a heavily traveled trail but it's a trail that should be enjoyed by any mountain biker that wants to get the full Biology Trail experience.
