Description

Small Intestine at Raccoon Mountain is EXACTLY what the name says. It's twisty, turny, and switchbacky fun. You can ride it in either direction and it's fun either way. You can get to the trail either off of Switch Yard or Grindstone Ridge Trail.

From Switch Yard, riding in a counter-clockwise direction will start you out on a downhill that brings you to a spectacular overlook within a mile. Take the time to go take pictures! (If riding clockwise, this will be near the end of your ride and is a nice time to take a break.)

The rest of the run is lots of switchbacks that either descend or ascend to run with the contour lines of the area. That's what make this ride so nice, as there are not really any big hard climbs, and the descents are fun and rolling. About midway from either direction, there is a challenging rock garden to maneuver. All in all, a great, fun ride!

Small Intestine is a welcome break with nice fast non-technical singletrack with gems like this small cork-screw scattered about.
