Overview

This route is for those looking to enjoy one of the best descents on the East Coast, including Live Wire 1 and Live Wire 2 in the shortest all-trail loop option.

Description

While the trails are bidirectional, it is recommended to ride counterclockwise to optimize the downhill.

This route begins from the parking area along the river at the bottom of the mountain. Beginning counterclockwise, you'll start with High Voltage. At the end of the long High Voltage climb, take a right onto Split Rock briefly before intersecting with Laurel Point to the right. Laurel Point will flow in to Electric Avenue 1 which will take you to the East Overlook parking area. From there, ride down the parking area road and straight across to the entrance of East Rim. East Rim will dump you out in the power line clearing where you'll turn right onto Live Wire 1.

The ride finishes with a fun 4.7 mile, 800 foot descent featuring rock gardens, switchbacks, and bridges. The descent is fast and steep in places, allowing for a blistering pace down the length of Live Wire 1 and Live Wire 2.

Heading down this section of High Voltage is more fun than climbing back up, but you have to pay to play.
