Henry Coe parking is $6 a day. There is a visitor centre at the Coe Ranch HQ, which has maps, and a selection of drinks and snacks.
Description
Jackass Trail runs between
Poverty Flat and Blue Ridge Rd, and can be ridden in either direction - although it is a challenging climb and much more fun in the downhill direction (as shown).
The trail is quite narrow for much of it's length, and towards the bottom has some narrow off-camber sections.
The route is on open hillside for much of its length - affording great views. There is some shade from the occasional group of trees, and at the top the trail winds though a series of tall bushes.
Note this trail is in an increasingly remote part of the park, and temperatures can be very high in summer. It is a grind uphill to the start via the wide
Poverty Flat road, then turn left at the junction and continue uphill on the steep Blue Ridge Rd where the start of Jackass is marked with a post and sign on your left - the reward is a flowing 1.5-mile downhill with excellent views south.
