Overview
A nice intermediate ride with great views, lakes, and almost deserted trails. This loop can be made almost 100% singletrack with the return on
Tie Down Trail.
Need to Know
In the summer, bring a lot of water.
Description
Depart from Orestimba Corral, heading south on the
Orestimba Creek Road. Take the clearly marked turn left on Mustang Cut-off after about 0.5 miles from the starting point. This is a beautiful 0.5-mile singletrack that connects with
County Line Road. The trail is not very technical with some short steep climbs.
Turn left on
County Line Road and ride until you reach Mustang Peak. The views from the top are really beautiful and worth the detour. Turn back from here and ride about half the distance on the
County Line Road and take a left turn on the clearly marked
Dutch's Trail. Very few people ride this trail, so you may have pretty high grass in some places, but the trail is very beautiful, with sweeping views on the south part of the park. Like most of the trails in Coe, this trail is made of steep short climbs, followed by really nice downhill segments with good visibility and beautiful views.
At about 0.6 miles from the road, you have the option of taking
Purple Pond Trail, which will take you to a nice little pond before rejoining the main trail.
The return can be done on either
Kaiser Aetna Road or
Tie Down Trail, depending on how much energy you have left.
