Overview

This route focuses on trying to get the most downhill fun in with minimal climbing. Focusing on the east side of Fort Ord, you'll get to enjoy some variety in terrain.

This route will venture to Lookout Ridge where you can get some amazing panoramic photos of the landscape.

Need to Know

Always remember to yield to uphill riders and hikers. If you're riding an e-bike, take the opportunity to ride with the riders at their pace up a hill, you might meet a new friend and they will appreciate you not blasting by as they are doing 50-80% more work than you. While on the e-bike comment, it's worthy to note that this ride can be done on Bosch e-mtb mode in its entirety (if you're in great shape) leaving you with some juice at the end.

Description

Starting with Trail 30 at the monument parking lot, cross over Sandy Ridge Road to Trail 25. Merge back on to Sandy Ridge Road and take Trail 33 then continue on Trail 26.

Enter Trail 32, continue across road to Trail 35. Continue on Manzanita Road to Trail 76 on to Trail 79. Turn right onto Trail 75 and climb back up to Manzanita Road (optionally (routed) climb to the top of Manzanita Road to Jack's or continue on the spur of Trail 75, continue climbing to the top of Trail 75, descending onto Jacks Road).

Cross Jack's Road onto Three Sisters Rd. Once at the top of Three Sisters Rd., keep right to Trail 42, and descend to Skyline Road.

Turn right on Skyline Road and ride to the top of Jack's (asphalt climb). Stay left and climb Lookout Ridge Road. Continue along the ridge, stop for a couple of photo opportunities, and don't be tempted to hit the singletrack just yet, you'll get to attack those in a bit.

Stay to the right onto Trail 50 (South) for a nice little singletrack treat. Stay to the right and merge onto the Trail 49 (North) for the climb out. Cross back over Lookout Ridge Road and continue on to 49.

Finish 49 by going across Dam Crossing Road, turn right and climb Skyline Rd. At about halfway up the climb, you'll turn left onto Trail 44. Cross over Three Sisters Road on to Trail 41 (Goat Trail), follow it all the way down to Oil Well Road and turn left.

Continue down Oil Well Road, then turn right on Trail 72. Turn right onto Trail 31 and ride back down to the parking lot.
