Almost entirely tree-covered, this beautiful trail is well worth the effort.

Description

This trail is the bulk of what is known to mountain bikers as the 7th St Loop. It splits left from Ahwingna Trail at a large tree with a hitching post beneath it. Tree-covered and green, it's one of the best trails for miles around.

The trail is hard-pack with many wide switchbacks descending a north-facing hillside. Then the trail continues along the bottom of a small canyon, darting and turning through really fast lines beneath the trees. At the bottom, it bends left and starts climbing a small series of steep switchbacks. The climb back to the top is also completely tree-covered and a real pleasure to ride.

Cresting the last rise, follow the trail down a steep channel of rocks and stay left along the ridge trail for a half-mile or so to complete the loop.

Shaded by trees and the north facing slope, this trail is like being in Lord of the Rings.

The first of many clean switchbacks, this descent is beautiful and thrilling.

These boulders were placed to slow down descending riders, but they also make for a slighter harder climb.
