Description

As mapped, the trailhead begins as Mount Herman Road becomes a dirt road. There is a dirt parking lot marked. It can also be ridden from the Nursery Road Trailhead and accessing the road at the western edge of the Monument Preserve Loop.

The first 2.5 miles wind around the front of Mount Herman. The dirt road is well maintained, and there is not a lot of traffic. Multiple trails from Monument Preserve Loop feed into the road.

The next mile is more steep but not technical. The takeoff to Mule and Monument Trail (715) are accessible from the road.

The climb continues until about mile 7, then levels out significantly. Large boulders in aspen and pine groves line the road and further down the road, views of Pike's Peak over Woodland Park come into view.

At mile 9.5, Mount Herman Road crosses Forest Road 322A. At mile 11.5, Mount Herman Road meets Rampart Range Rd.

Turn around and enjoy the ride down!
