Description
The start of this trail is a great place to park with water for cooling off and washing the bike.
The trail is a nice mixture of rolling hills and somewhat smooth trails before connecting to Wolf Mountain, South Equestrian Loop, and the tough but outstanding Juniper Ridge trail.
The entire Pedernales Falls area is composed of limestone, so this trails surface has the consistency of a gravel road on most of its length; therefore care should be taken trying to take corners at speed.
At the end of the trail, you'll cross a road and see a parking lot on the right, continue straight and you'll see the
Wolf Mountain Trail. Continue straight for another half-mile and stay left at the next "Y" intersection to ride the
Juniper Ridge Trail. At this point, the North Loop Equestrian Trail continues to the west and crosses Park Rd, however, this portion of the trail is true horse trail and not recommended for mountain bike use.
There is signage at the parking lot and all major trailheads but, of course, have your trail map on hand, lots of water, and energy bars etc.
