Overview
This is a combination of arguably the two best trails in Simi Valley. This ride has a mixed bag of goodies to delight any rider.
Description
From the Chumash trailhead, start the 2.5-mile climb up the singletrack
Chumash Trail until it ends at the Rocky Peak Road. Along the way, you'll encounter many tricky technical sections (loose rocks, boulders, a few tight switchbacks), that will surely challenge a wide range of riders.
At the top of Chumash, take a right on the fire road (it's technically a fire road but it has a lot of technical sections not normally associated with fire roads) and blast it to the
Hummingbird trailhead.
The
Hummingbird trail packs a mixed bag of terrain. Loose rocks, large boulders, a 8-10' roller drop, tight switchbacks, high-speed sections, and a few small jumps.
The end of the trail dumps you out into the
Hummingbird parking lot. From here, you'll see a white fence across the street, go through the fence and follow the fire road until you see the culvert. Follow it until it turns into singletrack (
Hummingbird) that heads towards a water tower. Follow the singletrack and it will take you back to the Chumash trailhead.
