Need to Know

The trail is daily directional.

To get to the trailhead, (coming from Black Forest Mountain Bike Trail) riders need to turn right when they hit the pavement that separates the Black Forest Mountain Bike Trail and TNT Mountain Bike Trail then go through the gate and cross the road. There is parking at the trailhead to riders can use this as the starting point rather than use the crowded main MTB parking.

If needed, there is a primitive outhouse at the start of the Sunday direction.

Description

Atlas is NOT named after the VW Atlas SUV, but in a nod to the history of the area, which used to be an ammunitions plant. Atlas was a top powder supplier for the ammunitions. However, it's a happy coincidence, due to the fact that the SUV is made 1/2 mile away from the Nature Park. Locals refer to the Enterprise South Nature Park simply as VW.

This new 5.6 mile blue/black section is a welcome and progressive addition as the other three loops go from easy, to easy intermediate to intermediate. The only thing that really makes it close to a blue/black is the bypass-able jump options, some of the optional rock features, and some of the technical, short climbs. A competent intermediate would be challenged but not discouraged riding this trail.

The man-made rock features are piles of boulders next to the trail that a rider can huck over. As of May 6, 2018, the trail is still roughed in so there are a lot of roots, rocks and bumps that will smooth out as the trail gets worn in. This addition now gives riders a little over 17 miles of total trail with all four are connected and ridden as a contiguous track.
