Need to Know

While the Gateway Trail network is clearly signed as multi-use trails for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikes, the primary users of this trail system seems to be the stables at the entrance to the trail system. Some of the singletrack is 6-8 inches deep from hoof traffic and there is a lot of horse refuse.

Description

This ride starts behind the parking lot for the Bryce View Lodge at the mouth of Bryce Canyon National Park, running behind the historic Tropic Ditch out to the rim of Bryce Canyon.

It runs right on the rim for about a third of a mile and then heads back into the Ponderosa Pine forest. The view from the rim is the highlight of the loop. You can hook up with a couple of other trails, Ruby Rim A Loop 33072A and Ruby Rim B Loop 33072B to make this a slightly longer ride or you can hook up with FS Road 30650A to get to the network of forest roads on the west side of the main Bryce Canyon entrance road for some really long forest road loops.

This makes a quick loop to acclimate to the altitude if you happen to be staying in Bryce Canyon City.
