Mountain Boomer is a one-way trail (ridden counterclockwise) for mountain bikers. There is also a wet weather closure program in place at Rattlesnake Ridge.

Need to Know

There are no trash cans or bathrooms on site. Please pack out what you pack in. The closest amenities are about 1 mile away at Pinnacle Mountain State Park.

Description

Mountain Boomer can be ridden as a continuation of Diamondback coming down the mountain or can be accessed directly from Cliffbrake (East Summit Trail) about halfway up the climb. Once you're on the trail, you immediately start into some flow and berms, mixed with some boulder gardens. The third turn has an optional rock line up to the right to test your skills.

Below this turn, there is a small jump over a creek. It can basically be rolled. There is no alternate line as of now. If you don't want to jump, just walk around it. From here, the trail continues downhill until it reaches a big rocky ridge coming down the mountain. This section can be tricky if you aren't carrying any speed.

After the ridge, the trail climbs for a bit. At the top of the climb the singletrack narrows, climbing a bit again. The trail then climbs through a rocky glade area right on top of a knob. From here, there are two lines down: a blue line to the right that can be ridden slowly and rolled fairly easily (watch out for the square-edged rock in the middle of the trail at the bottom), or a black diamond line that takes off to the left and drops about 8 feet down a steep mini bluff.

The trail wanders through a flat section of woods for a bit before it climbs right back onto a narrow, rocky ridge. There are some cool views of the south face of Rattlesnake Ridge from here. The trail once again drops through rocky tech lines until you come to a split at the Tombstone Rock. A black diamond roll line goes to the left of the Tombstone and an easier blue line goes around to the right. Careful here as the blue line is still somewhat in progress. Take your time. Both lines come back together and drop through some techy boulders before dropping one final time off the ridge.

From here, the trail smooths out and flows quickly out towards the road crossing. After you cross the road, the trail drops again through some boulder gardens with hidden jumps and roller lines around. At the end of this section, there is a large, very fun turn.
Continue along a fairly flat section towards a small ridgeline and a few switchbacks. Here you can take a right to go onto a tough black diamond alternate line called Farkleberry or continue straight onto Mountain Boomer. The trail flows down the hill nicely with lots of alternate lines, rock rolls, rock gardens, and berms.
