Green Lake Trail is best as a descent, though the easiest way to accomplish that is an out-and-back, though a loop can be made with Habegger Road.

Once you've put in the effort to reach the top, the trail on the way back down descends from the wilderness boundary, down off of an escarpment to a loose, narrow, talus trail that switchbacks down to Green Lake. Curving past Green Lake, it changes between rocky technical parts and cruising through sometimes wet meadows.

Eventually, the trail drops off steeply toward South Bishop Creek, getting even more technical than the top, as it nears the bottom before reaching the equally gnarly Parchers Trail.

Please, please, please be respectful of hikers and horses in this area! While this is a legal trail for bikes, it is not commonly ridden, and many may be surprised. You might have to (kindly) inform hikers that this area is indeed not a wilderness, and you are allowed to ride here. Share the trail so we can keep it that way!
