Description

This loop begins at the turnoff from the Big Pine-Death Valley Road. Begin by heading south (right) on Hines Road (09S15). At 4.9 miles, you reach the high point after a series of switchbacks. Descend to Papoose Flats on Hines Road (09S15) at 10.4 miles.

Head east on 36E404 until 16.5 miles where you can either continue north and short cut up and over the hill on 36E404, or continue east on to a cabin and The Narrows on 36E405. Continue back to the starting point on 36E404.

This is a beautiful and remote 4X4 route leading from Death Valley Road to the hoodoo granite formations and arches at Papoose Flat in the Inyo Mountains.
