Overview
This is a very remote route without water around Andrews Mountain, down to Papoose Flats, and out east to The Narrows.
Need to Know
There is no water on this loop and it is quite remote, prepare accordingly.
Description
This loop begins at the turnoff from the Big Pine-Death Valley Road. Begin by heading south (right) on
Hines Road (09S15). At 4.9 miles, you reach the high point after a series of switchbacks. Descend to Papoose Flats on
Hines Road (09S15) at 10.4 miles.
Head east on
36E404 until 16.5 miles where you can either continue north and short cut up and over the hill on
36E404, or continue east on to a cabin and The Narrows on
36E405. Continue back to the starting point on
36E404.
This is a beautiful and remote 4X4 route leading from Death Valley Road to the hoodoo granite formations and arches at Papoose Flat in the Inyo Mountains.
