A mixed-width loop with moderate grades, switchbacks, and good flow; look for the fun descent to the parking lot.

Overview

Hop on your bike and get ready for a 10-mile loop that's equal parts moderate climb and fun, dusty descent. There's a decent amount of flow, so you won't struggle keeping up your speed on the downs. Expect the standard SoCal hardpack varying to loose-over-hardpack. The area has a good, rocky base, so it holds up well to the infrequent rain.

Description

Start from the curbside parking on 13th St. in Yucaipa, CA. Three Hawks Trail is the second trail on your right - a 1-mile climb with a consistent, moderate grade. The lower half is fairly open with berms on many of the switchbacks. The top section kicks up a bit, and the switchbacks get tighter. There's a little bit of minor exposure in spots, but nothing too threatening.

The top of the trail dumps you off on Crafton Hills Ridge Trail for a more XC ride. Following the fire road to the Regional Park Trail, taking that down, and taking the road back to your car gets you around 10 miles of riding.
