This trail will either be one of your favorite experiences in Moab, or your worst nightmare, depending on your ability level and desire to push your limits. Advanced riders will find this trail to be a very fun challenge, with constant technical ups and downs on fun rock lines to keep you busy. Everything is rideable, but the line is sometimes hard to see until you're right there. There's some exposure in spots, although it's not as edgy as the Portal.

This trail used to be illegal, but has been re-routed in spots away from the cliff edge to protect raptor nesting habitat (birds of prey, not dinosaurs) and to improve the overall route for cyclists. The trail is marked primarily using orange dashes painted on the rock.

Less advanced technical riders can still follow this route, but you'll probably walk many short sections along the way. At the end of this trail, you can continue to Portal (intense / hike-a-bike for some), or take Poison Spider (longer mileage / very sandy) more of a jeep route, but also much less exposure.

Note that Golden Spike Jeep Road is much harder and more strenuous than the Gold Bar Rim Singletrack and is not recommended for mountain bikes.
