Overview

A short DH option in the Santa Barbara foothills

Need to Know

The Edison Catway can be confusing, so either go with someone who knows the area, or bring a map and GPS. This DH trail has significant hiking traffic (like all SB front country trails), but has better visibility than most. Remember your bike bell and be prepared for hikers, dogs, and horses.

Description

The Girard/McMenemy DH drops down Girard Trail from the Edison Catway, and eventually goes left onto Lower McMenemy. The difficulty ramps up progressively as you descend, peaking around the McMenemy switchbacks, before a fast, flowy finish through the eucalyptus grove.

Girard/McMenemy is accessed from the Edison Catway. You can ride to the the Catway via either Cold Springs Trail or Hot Springs Trail, both to the west.

Beautiful trail but very exposed, rocky, and narrow! Pretty steep at times and sketchy cliffs. Would recommend going early mornings or evenings. 1.4mi — 2h 00m
