Description

Ridden as a descent, High Voltage is reached via the Laurel Point and Split Rock trails, accessed from the Laurel Point parking lot.

The descent of High Voltage beings with a series of steep, tight switchbacks that comprise the only technical aspect of the ride. The trail is smooth singletrack in this section, pavers have even been placed on the steepest parts, but there is some exposure and steep grades to navigate that may be beyond the comfort level of beginning riders.

After descending the initial section of switchbacks, the trail levels off slightly into a fast, smooth, and near continuous downhill run to the finish, with big turns and opportunities for air along the way.

The trail ends at the junction with Live Wire 2 and the Boat Ramp parking lot connector trail, so you can either turn around and make the challenging ascent back to Laurel Point, head to the Boat Ramp parking lot and other parking lots via the Raccoon Mountain Road, or you can continue on Live Wire 2 to Massengale Point and additional Raccoon Mountain Trails.

High Voltage - up & down

Heading down this section of High Voltage is more fun than climbing back up, but you have to pay to play.

Climbing out the top of High Voltage or the start of your screaming decent to the bottom.

When climbing High Voltage, this is the section where you should think: "Get skinny!" This is also right before the climbing really gets tough.
