Family Friendly Great trail for introducing mountain biking. Fit beginners can ride all the way to the summit.

Description

From the Pantoll Ranger Station parking lot, cross the road to the trailhead. Old Stage Road starts out paved a short distance under deep forest shade and then turns to dirt past a gate. The rest of the way is a gradual ascent to West Point Inn and the junction with the Old Railroad Grade Trail. West Point Inn is a nice picnic spot with lemonade and other refreshments for sale in the summer and a monthly pancake breakfast. Check out the historic Mount Tam photos inside.
