Description

Turf connects Old Argonne Road with the bottom end of Psycho Path with gradual elevation changes.

Starting from Old Argonne Road and heading west, Turf starts out with winding singletrack with a couple tricky root sections. When damp, one particular root on an off-camber turn threatens to kick the tires out from under any unsuspecting cyclist.

The first creek crossing starts with a tricky right hand banked sweeper around some roots then down to the creek crossing. The second creek crossing starts with a short rooty descent that has embedded baby heads scattered about. Climbing out of the second creek crossing is another brief section with more embedded baby heads.

The middle section several sweeping off-camber turns. Be sure to make your presence known when approaching blind corners to avoid a possible collision with another trail user.
The east end of the trail has a few dips with a rugged trail surface. The last dip signals the end of Turf and the climb up Psycho Path begins to the left.

Starting at the bottom of Psycho Path, Turf begins with a quick rugged dip. The trail will flow through the woods via a series of wide sweeping off-camber turns. Be sure to announce your presence when approaching blind corners to help avoid a possible collision with other trail users.

Approaching the first creek crossing, be wary of scattered babyheads embedded in the trail surface. Keep your momentum up as the climb out of the creek bed can be challenging as there are more baby heads and trees.

After crossing the creek bed, will be a left hand rising sweeper around some roots. You can use the bermed surface to help maintain your momentum as you make this quick ascent. The trail will continue through some intermittent rooty sections until you come out onto Old Argonne Road.

Heading right (uphill) on Old Argonne Road will bring you to the beginning of Stair Steps or you can head further toward the Old Argonne area of Palos. Heading left on Old Argonne Road will bring you toward Red Gate Woods parking lot.
