Overview

This is a recommended route in the Palos trail system that connects several trails and circles the Palos triangle area. You start off by parking at the Bullfrog Lake Lot, which is the first lot off to the right when you turn onto Wolf Road. Park in the first parking area to access Bullfrog Lake Trail.

Need to Know

This is a two-way trail that has lots of traffic from bikers, hikers, runners and horses. Please be on the lookout for oncoming riders and let them know how many is in your group so they are aware by shouting the number of riders back behind you (i.e. "3 back").

Description

Follow Bullfrog Lake Trail to the first intersection, then take a right to get on Campground Trail. Campground Trail is fun and flowy going this direction. Eventually, Campground T's and you hang a left onto Psycho Path, which continues on to Three Ravines and takes you to The Lobster and Elephant.

The Elephant eventually spits you out onto the Palos Yellow Multitrack (East) for a little break. Take the Palos Yellow Multitrack (East) to Bullwhip for a fun, fast downhill finish. You'll come out in the parking lot for Maple Lake and can take the road a short distance back to where you started in the Bullfrog Lake parking lot.

Note: If you want to extend the ride, you can continue after Bullwhip to Hickory Smoked and Cemetery Hill Loop then back to the Maple Lake Parking Lot.
