Overview

This loop ties a fun descent on Ahwingna Trail to a nice climb on Native Oak Trail.

Description

The first 1/2 mile is a super fast, flowy singletrack. At the split, stay left and descend a steep hillside. Into the tree-covered slope the trail cuts long straight lines separated by many tight, steep switchbacks. At the bottom of the ravine green is everywhere, like Lord of the Rings. The trail resumes the swoopy, race track and eventually emerges from shade into a small clearing where you can prepare for the climb out.

Similar to the descent, the climb is almost completely shaded and full of green. Cresting the final hill, you emerge into a steep rock chute. Be careful through this mini-luge, the rocks are loose. Follow the trail left along the chain link fence 1/2 mile to the original break to complete the loop.
