Overview

The Green Loop is a good way to experience some of the easy and moderate singletrack in the South Marquette Trail System. You also have many options to add more distance with many extra options. It is fun riding and can be ridden in either direction.

Description

The Green Loop starts on Carp Eh Diem, a scenic trail along the ridges above the Carp River, rolling out on the contour on somewhat smooth trail. After crossing a bridge and passing multiple intersections with various downhill routes, this part of the ride gently climbs and contours around some small ridges above the Carp River.

Midway through, Carp Eh Diem starts a twisting descent to a bench above the river near Morgan Creek Falls. From here, the route begins a climb out of the drainage with a quick steep pitch at first and then more moderately to an intersection with the Pipe Dreams and Easy Street.

Easy Street is one of the longer trails at the high point of the Green Loop ride.
Turn left at the end of Carp Eh Diem, climbing gradually to the west into a small drainage. The trail loops back on itself a couple of times as it climbs to the ridge above the Carp River.

The highest point of the ride is just past the midpoint of Easy Street From there, the trail undulates and alternates between short sections of descending and climbing.

Stay on straight on Two Track Alley and cross the Pioneer Loop twice before a right turn on Smiley. On this section, you'll have a perma-grin as you rocket over roots and a few sandy spots. Stay straight at the Pioneer Overlook Connector and Porky Pine Pass.

The gradual descent begins with some carving singletrack that winds down and around the trees. From there, the ride straightens out and then picks up some speed. You'll find some small optional table top jumps and man made rock roll downs throughout this section.

The finale of the Green Loop takes you under the fly-over on Flow and wiggles you through more carving, smooth singletrack to the end of the trail. Stay left at Benson Grade to return to the South Trails parking area.

Super blown out. Rooty, rocky, no flow, old school not in a good way.
