Restrooms are available at the Pinal Mountain Campgrounds near the Ferndell Trailhead and at the CCC Recreation Site. Topo Joe's in Globe offers a shuttle service to drop riders at the Ferndell Trailhead (or any other upper access point) so they can ride downhill back to town.

Like all the trails in the Pinal Mountains, Telephone is open in either direction but most popular with cyclists as a downhill route.

This trail branches left from Sixshooter Canyon about a mile below the Ferndell Trailhead. Relatively gentle singletrack takes you through lush pine and fir forest until you near the ridgetop, where the vegetation turns brushier and the views open up. The trail rolls along the ridgetop opposite the steeper and more wooded Sixshooter Canyon Trail, offering a scenic view over the canyon and its multicolored fall foliage and culminating in a spectacular view over the city of Globe. From there, it cuts to the west and descends through a dense tunnel of oak and manzanita. It ultimately joins the Icehouse Canyon Trail. Stay on Icehouse Canyon to return to the CCC Recreation Site, or take Lower Telephone for a steep downhill challenge.
