Not Allowed
DO NOT enter the wilderness area on your MTB. The trail continues, but your bike can not.
Need to Know
Trail is accessed from the end of Storm Lake Rd, which is 8 miles from MT-1. Can be combined with the
Storm Lake Access Trail.
Description
This section of Storm Lake twists and winds along the side of Storm Lake, then has moderately steep and tight switchbacks up through the woods and up the mountain towards the Continental Divide. Bicycles are only permitted up until the boundary of the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness which is sign-posted, but it is possible to continue up on foot to the CDT at Storm Lake Pass.
If you happen to be up at Storm Lake with your mountain bike the trail is definitely worth riding, as you get some nice views of the lake, and the trail has enough roots and rocks to make it challenging for intermediate riders. Whether it's worth coming up here to ride such a short trail is up to you, as there are other longer rides to more secluded alpine lakes in the Anaconda region. This lake is a particularly popular one as it's possible to drive right to it.
