Overview

The highlight of this loop is riding down Foster Creek Singletrack. This loop will enable you to do that without having to ride up Foster Creek. Instead you'll get to ride up the equally scenic Warm Springs Valley, cross up and over a pass, then down into the Foster Creek Drainage. Most of this ride will be on scenic gravel roads that don't get too much traffic.

Description

Start the route at the bottom of Warm Springs Road. There are places you can park along the side of Spring Hill Rd just to the south of MT-1 and West of Warm Springs Rd. Warm Springs Rd has a pleasant gradient and a road surface suitable for gravel bikes.

After about 8.25 miles the road forks a couple of times and you stay right to continue up the East Fork. GPS may be useful to have for this section. The east fork is much rockier and rougher and steeper than Lower Warm Springs Rd, more like a 4wd trail. After another 1.5 miles, the East Fork ends at private property and the trail starts not far before here.

Foster Creek Trail had a revamp during the summer of 2023 and is now great for mountain bikes. The first part of the trail involves a climb with switchbacks up to the ridge where you get an awesome view looking down into the Foster Creek Drainage. You then are rewarded with a long and very beautiful descent though trees and meadows. The last mile of Foster Creek Trail is especially fun!

At the bottom of Foster Creek Trail there is a bridge after which you'll join Foster Creek 4WD road. Not far down this road there will be signs for the Foster Creek Trail, which has several sections that come off and join back onto the road. If you're rushed for time you could just go straight down the road, but that would be less fun. The last section of Foster Creek Trail crosses over Foster Creek itself and spits you out at a parking lot at the end of Foster Creek Rd. Foster Creek Rd will be a fast descent on a road suitable for most vehicles with about 3 miles of gravel followed by 1 mile of seal.

The bottom of Warm Springs Rd connects back with MT-1. You could travel 2 miles on this road back to your starting point if you're not worried about the traffic, however this route avoids the traffic by taking gravel roads Old Maguire Rd, followed by Silver Cloud Rd.
