One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Overview

The premier downhill trail at Avimor! It's got plenty of jumps, a couple rock drops, some rowdy tech, and just the right amount of gnar. Most features are rollable or have ride arounds, but this trail is made for going big. Lap it by climbing up Shooting Range to Whiptail Trail and find the top of Pick Your Poison. Once at the bottom, Ricochet Trail completes the loop.

Need to Know

This trail is only open March 31 to December 1, and closed otherwise. Also please stay off anytime it is muddy. Some other trails in Avimor are open year-round and some are more all-weather friendly.

Description

Pick Your Poison is a purpose-built MTB trail. It's really got two characters: fast, steep freeride at the top and tight, exposed technicality at the bottom.

The trail starts from Whiptail Trail just west of a gate. It starts off with some big berms before it splits into two separate lines for a short length. The right-hand line has a steep chute that leads into a couple of big jumps. The left-hand line goes over a big rock feature. The lines meet up before the trail gets steep and rowdy, with big berms to keep your speed up through the corners.

You'll eventually come to a big rock feature with a couple of different lines right before a cattle guard. From this point, the trail gets tight, technical, and exposed. There are some big rocks and drops to ride, but be careful - a wrong move here could have you tumbling down the hillside. Some of these features should definitely be scouted before you try to ride them the first time. The trail meets Ricochet at its terminus and the bottom half of this shares a lot of character with Ricochet - they've both got quite a lot of narrow sidehill and big features to ride.
