The start point on the map is for the descent. If you do this as an out-and-back, climb up from Malaga Dunes, enjoying the shade as you push up the steep singletrack. On your right, you'll pass a clearing where local teens obviously come to party and leave a mess. Continuing up the short trail, you'll notice how steep and twisty it is. Remember that coming back down.

Next, you'll pass under a road, Via Campesina, right before the top of the trail. You could also continue climbing up Del Sol Fire Road for some great coastal views. The descent down Olmsted Creek is short but technical. You may need to dab a few times toward the top. In almost no time you'll find yourself back at the bottom.
