It may look appetizing riding the cable car up, but there are a lot of stairs and it's extremely steep.

Description

As you ride the Funicolare Brunate (Mountain Cable Car) from Como to Brunate, you'll pass several times what looks like a fun singletrack that roughly follows the route of the funicolare down to Como.

From Brunate, you can follow roads for about 0.8 miles that take you to the start of the singletrack. Thus begins an extremely steep descent comprised of a series of 15-20 very tight switchbacks at 20-40% grade with the occasional couple of stairs thrown in for good measure. Presumably most mortal riders will end up walking a lot, but doubtless there a some people who will really enjoy this challenge.

Once you reach the mid-station for the funicolare, the tight switchbacks have finished, but the overall steepness of the descent continues for another 0.3 miles until you reach the level of Lago di Como (Lake).

And if you're crazy enough to follow the name and try to climb it, good luck!
