Description

This trail is most often used to complete the loop around Mt. Herman. It begins as a marked, but easily missed, turn off of to the right of the last bit of Monument Trail (715) (see picture with hand). Do not miss this turn off, as the trail descends onto private gated land and will require climbing back up the hill to take this trail.

The areas of climbing on this trail are not terribly steep, but it is a lesser-traveled trail and has lots of loose rock and obstacles. While not difficult in and of itself, it makes for a challenge at the end of looping around Mt. Herman. Don't underestimate the last few miles.

Eventually, the trail descends at about the point it crosses the large red rock formation. It joins with many un-mapped trails above Monument Preserve, but keep descending and the trails will end on Mt. Herman Road.

MUST MAKE RIGHT TURN HERE!! Going straight will put you on private property and you'll have to come back to this turn.

Biked from the start to the base of the mountain and then back to rip the downhill. The ascent can be hell with all the sand, ride the edge. 2.5mi — 1h 10m
