River Gorge

Foot traffic has right-of-way at all times.

The Tennessee River Gorge trail wraps around the north side of the campground near the Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Facility. The trail features good flow with a minimal number of roots, and except for the steep section near the parking area, it is pretty flat.

You'll catch great views of the Tennessee River Gorge below through breaks in the trees or there are a few short side trails after you pass the mile-mark that lead to the bluffs overlooking the river.

At the far end of the trail, you can continue onto the Laurel Point trail which will return you to the parking area at the start of this trail.

This trail also intersects with the easier Electric Avenue 1 and Electric Avenue 2 trails as well as the more difficult Megawatt trail.
