A very quick trail with berms and switchbacks that will challenge your rhythm and lungs.

Description

This is a very fun trail that drops ~100ft very rapidly. Most of the roots and rocks have been cleared out so the challenge is keeping your speed up in the descent (work on your switchback skills and use of the berms) and being able to climb out. This trail is nearest to the Spears Trailhead.

Be mindful, this is a directional trai so depending on the day you might have to go through Double J or Strut first - pay attention to the signs and pedestrian traffic that will be coming from the opposite direction.

This can be ridden as one large loop with Double J, and Gig City.

The sign at the Spears end of Hill City says to enter there on Wednesdays. That is CONTRARY to what is explained here as a CCW requirement on Wednesdays. Entering Hill City at the NE end on Mo/We/Fri means the Hill City and Double J loop are executed in a CW direction, NOT CCW. Aug 9, 2017

You are correct. I lifted that language from the trail map (which is wrong): static1.squarespace.com/sta… "For cyclists, they flow clockwise on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and counter-clockwise in Monday,Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday" Aug 10, 2017
