Description

From Hwy 35 at Black Road, proceed north on Hwy 35. On the right-hand side of the road will be parking at Sunnyvale Mountain. The trailhead is on the northern side of the parking lot.

The main trail is a combination of old logging road and singletrack. Follow the ridgetop as the trail winds among various hills and dales. Here you'll encounter some climbing, but mostly a very nice beginner trail. Some of the climbing can be a bit much for beginners, but it's all walkable and certainly not too long.

Skyline makes for a very nice out and back, riding from parking lot to parking lot. Most of the time you feel quite deep in the trees.

Note that in one section near the Summit Rock Parking Area, bikes are not allowed on the trail and must exit to the road for a short distance before re-entering the trail. This routing is well marked and serves to separate hiking and biking traffic over a short stretch.
For its duration, you'll experience gorgeous views of the Santa Clara Valley and sandstone rock formations.

Awesome trail! Didn't ride the whole thing but definitely want to come back and ride the whole thing. Did it backwards and started at Saratoga Gap. 6.8mi

Very smooth, flowy trail. Not much technical terrain, but it gets a little narrower on the downhill to the 9 and 35 junction.

Nice ride, you've got to keep in mind that this is a heavily used trail do be prepared to yield to pedestrians.

This trail connects to/from JNT for an 11 mile climb. Skyline trail is easy. One or two obstacles that are easy for an experienced biker. — 0h 32m

Getting forecast...

Really fun evening riding mountain bikes on the Skyline Trail above Saratoga. Started at junction of Highway 9 and 35, rode south on 35 to Indian Rock, further south on Skyline Trail to the top of Sunnyvale Mount, then back 6.5 miles on the trail the whole way along fire roads and singletrack. Really glad this trail was opened to biking last year, it's a great afterwork 2 hours of fun with the option of some great bouldering along the way. Mar 18, 2016
