This road connects Middle Wilson Ridge to Lower Wilson Ridge, or to FSR 187 (aka 18 mi. road). 4097 is mostly a is mostly a dirt or grass surface.

Much of this road is in the corridor of the full Wilson Ridge Trail. There are many forks off of it. These either go to private land, viewpoints, or abandoned sections of Wilson Ridge Trail. Some of these intersections lead to nowhere.

Using the lower end of this road can provide a 12 mi. loop with Brown Mountain Beach Road, Adako road, 187 and Lower Wilson Ridge Trail.
