Need to Know
There can be a lot of cows in this area - sometimes cow waste overwhelms the trail and their hoofs tear up the ground. Beware of hunters in this area in the fall.
Description
From nearly the northeastern end of the
Missionary Ridge trail is the turnoff for Red Creek Trail #726. It is marked by a small wooden sign propped up on a large log partially across the trail. The beginning of Red Creek trail is quite steep and mostly an eroded, deep trough. This unpleasant start to the descent improves eventually, but not before crisscrossing the creek multiple times over tricky terrain. There are also a lot of downed trees to climb over. After a mile or so, the trail condition improves and the going is easier. You'll pass through some aspen groves and between some small cliffs. Just before the end, the trail becomes doubletrack and eventually ends at the parking lot shared by the
First Fork Trail.
