Overview

Very fun, challenging trails that fly under the radar with so many other trails in the area. Some climbing, speedy descents, cool obstacles, water crossings, switchbacks, and banked bridges. This place is really cool and gives local riders another option to test their skills.

Need to Know

Stay right at around the one-mile mark to avoid a huge jump...wait what am I saying? Stay left to hit the huge jump! Enjoy the trail!

Description

The experience starts with a large parking lot that includes restrooms and a bike repair kiosk with air. Most riders start on the south trails (Green Trail) to get warmed up. These trails are very fun and include a few fun bridges, but mostly flowing singletrack to get ready for the real ride.

After hitting those trails, cross back past the restrooms and onto the Intermediate Connector, which is a gravel doubletrack that leads you into the woods.

The trail gets challenging almost immediately with a decision to be made at around mile one. Stay left to hit a ladder drop that sits at the top of a steep slope. If you hit it big, you'll be able to step-down for a mild 6'-8' drop. If that sounds like too much, keep right for a steep ride-around that ends with a very fast section into the woods. The middle part of this trail is very fast while riding ridge lines and crossing a small creek.

After some decent climbs and another crossing of the same creek, you wind around to the "rest area" with two log benches right next to the creek. It's gorgeous. Take a breath and get ready for a pretty steep, long climb that includes a very tough, root-strewn switchback. After the climb, you can decide to take another lap or head back out to the Intermediate Connector and back to the parking lot.

Overall, this is a very fun, very well maintained trail that will test your endurance and your guts as you fly down some fast descents. Special thanks to the Summit County Metro Parks Office for creating and maintaining such a cool network. There are plans to add more trails, so stay tuned.
