Need to Know

The trail is well-marked. Wildlife is active in the area; namely moose and bear. I've seen moose right off the trail several times along the top, and their tracks all over. Make noise and pay attention. There's a pretty cool lookout on the eastern edge of the loop. This trail is growing in popularity and is seeing a lot more traffic; the downhill is great, but be cautious around blind corners.

Description

If you park at the designated parking area, ride up past the metal gate and trailhead signage, and up a gravel road for a couple hundred feet. You'll see the marked trail come into the road almost at a switchback angle.

Take this smooth singletrack down a short dip then up, up, up all the way to the "T". The climbs on this loop have some steep/rocky sections that are relatively short. At the T, you can go either way to make a loop back to that point. I highly recommend taking a left at the T and riding a clockwise loop. There's still a good amount of climbing to be had from the T in either direction, but this direction allows your downhill to be less interrupted and more flowy than if you'd ridden counter-clockwise, especially if you extend the ride out to where Short Ribs comes in.

Both directions are fun, but clockwise gets my vote, and the vote of most people who have ridden it both ways, it seems.

The network is small enough that one full loop will likely leave you wanting more. Take another lap (or two) from the T and then ride all the way back down; about a 5-minute downhill from the very top, down to the parking lot.
