Overview

A combination of the best singletrack in the area, starting from Point Mugu State Park off the PCH.

Need to Know

You gotta pay to park.

Description

The Overlook Trail is a doubletrack/fire road off of Sycamore Canyon Fire Road. Start by climbing up that. It's long and pretty mellow with amazing views. Once you get to the intersection, stay straight onto the Guadalasca Trail. This is a short climb and a long, fun descent that is flowy and has some switchbacks. At the end, stay right on the Wood Canyon Fire Road doubletrack for a little ways until you get to Hell Hill, which will be your first right.

Hell Hill is a wide fire road that is very steep. It's only 0.7 miles, so it's manageable. This takes you back up to the same intersection where the Guadalasca Trail began. Stay left onto the Overlook Trail for a second until you see the Backbone Trail on your left. Bombs away. Then you'll be back on the Sycamore Canyon Fire Road.

Stay right and stay on the road until you get back to the parking lot.

Really fun singletrack downhill. Uphill is nice and mellow with exception of hell hill which is tough after 10 miles but definitely worth it. 16.5mi — 3h 00m
