Overview

This route features amazing views and extremely technical, rocky singletrack for more experienced riders.

Description

This is an alternate route splitting off from the popular Salmon Falls Trail (aka Darrington Trail) near Lake Folsom, California.

Head west/southwest on Salmon Falls (Darrington Trail) looking for the split just after the switchback at Hancock Creek. From here, expect a very steep climb ( > 20% grade in some sections) up to the top of Flagstaff Hill on Salmon Falls Rd, which is a granny gear trail at best.

Turn left onto the Flagstaff Hill Connector and get ready for a rowdy descent. The payoff at the top on Mickey Mouse Connector Trail is worth the climb with great views of Folsom Lake and surrounding area and two highly technical and extreme downhill singletrack sections ( > 30% grade) with lots of challenging rocky descents and switchbacks.

As a lollipop loop, you'll meet back with Salmon Falls Rd which you'll retrace back to the Salmon Falls (Darrington Trail) back to the parking area.

Always a great local go to. Many different terrain types. Ridden this 10 + times. Bring plenty of water during the summer, as it can get pretty hot. 24mi — 3h 00m
