Family Friendly This is a great place for families to get away from traffic. Tell younger riders to stay a couple feet from the edge of the trail because it slopes in places, and they could easily run off the trail.

Personally, I would use caution during any hunting seasons in the fall and winter, but specifically deer season.

Description

This rail-banked section from McPherson to Lindsborg was started back in the 90's, but has really made progress in the past few years. The trail is very well maintained by Central Kansas Conservancy; some of the weeds in the trail had been hand-pulled that morning after I talked with a group of men building a covered bridge that day.

There is a five-mile section of trail missing right now; they are currently working with some land owners that aren't exactly interested in sharing the rail-banked land with them for development. I'll be monitoring their progress and update the trail map as soon as changes happen.
