Description

Dynamite Road runs downhill from the Old Argonne area from the end of Pipeline, past the beginnings Psycho Path and Three Ravines, then all the way down to 107th Street. Dynamite road can be divided into two sections.

The upper section runs between Pipeline and Three Ravines and is mainly flat and smooth. The lower section connects the western end of Three Ravines to 107th Street and has considerable but gradual elevation change.

Beginning the descent from Three Ravines will be an area heavy with roots followed by a fall line trail. There will then be a rocky creek crossing and then a choice between two lines. The line to the left will immediately cross the creek again and travel along a bench cut on a blind sweeping left turn - so be sure to announce your presence in case there is another trail user around the corner. Please remember that uphill riders have the right of way.

The alternate line to the right is more challenging as it has a series of considerable roots that will need to be ridden over. The alternate line will then cross the creek and rejoin the main trail downhill of the blind sweeper. The remainder of the trail is a straight downhill run to 107th Street. Crossing 107th Street will bring you toward XX, XX Extension and Canal trails.

Ascending Dynamite Road from 107th Street begins with a straight climb up to a choice of two lines. The line to the right will continue along a blind sweeping right turn so be sure to announce your presence in case there is a rider coming from the opposite direction. The trail will then turn left across the creek.

The alternate line to the left will cross the creek and then turn to the right over a series of challenging roots before rejoining with the main trail. The next creek crossing will require you to have a decent amount of momentum to successfully clear. The trail will continue to climb through a fall line, a rooty section, and then a final push to the intersection with Three Ravines.

At this intersection, heading right will take you onto Three Ravines. Heading left will bring you to the intersection with Psycho Path, and continuing straight from there will bring you to Pipeline and the Old Argonne area.
