Description

J-Boy is a good option for an advanced experience at the Red Fleet trails. The trail can be combined into a number of different loops.

Starting at the lower part of Donkey Flats Rd, the route climbs smooth singletrack to the north, up a small ridge. As the route turns east, it flattens out briefly and passes through an intersection with the HBC Connector.

Continue straight here through terrain that features red dirt singletrack and twisted pinion trees. There is a short and somewhat steep climb toward a big sandstone mesa. The trail becomes very windy through here, following the edges of a hillside.

This part of the route tops out at a small saddle and begins a descent to the southwest. This part of the trail has some sections of slickrock and a few minor drops. The corridor of trees and shrubs are also tighter through here.

Continue straight through the intersection with HBC and drop down a rock ledge by a small tree. From here the trail wraps around the bottom of the big sandstone mesa and then drops into a large slick rock drainage.

As J-Boy crosses the upper part of Donkey Flats Rd, it climbs again to gain a long, exposed rock cliff. The trail through here is right on the edge, with expansive views of the Red Fleet trail area.

Near the end point of the cliff, the trail turns sharply left and begins a rowdy and technical descent, the most difficult in the entire system.

The challenge begins with a chunky drop between a giant cliff and a car-sized boulder. From there, the trail snakes through a couple of tight turns around more boulders. The spiciness continues with a long, rock armored causeway that transitions into more tight switchbacks.

The bottom end of J-Boy rambles out to a t-intersection with HBC.
