The signs say no dogs, but days without dog-sightings are rare.

Overview

This is a nice ride through rolling hills on mostly singletrack trail. This is a very quiet area that's not too well traveled but is well maintained. There are some great views of the estuary.

Need to Know

Bring a bell since the ride is mostly on singletrack. There is a creek crossing on a narrow wooden bridge at mile 1.2.

Description

Parking off of South Bay Blvd., the trail begins flat and then works into a 1/3-mile climb. Upon reaching the Canet Trail crossing, turn left to ride through a fairly rocky section before descending on the other side of the hill.

Climbing back up the other side, you'll encounter an intersection with Live Oak Trail (branching left/right) and Portola Trail straight ahead. Take a right on Live Oak Trail and follow it up to the Quarry Trail.

Once at the Quarry Trail (much wider), take a left and begin to head back toward the road. The Quarry Trail has many rocks and drainage spots to be careful about, but the largest rocks are only about 7-8." Quarry Trail will descend to another parking lot.

Continue to the other side of the parking lot and head up the Live Oak Trail. The initial climb is very steep, but it flattens out quickly. You should be able to see where you parked by now. Just follow the frontage trail back to the parking lot.
