Overview

While the climb along Bonneville Shoreline Trail may not feature overly technical challenges, the climb is well worth it once you reach the bobsled descent.

Once you're on the descent, you'll be flying through the trees on banked turns, hanging on the by the skin of your teeth. With many big feature options, Bobsled challenges riders of all skill levels.

Description

Beginning beside Popperton Park, follow a paved trail up the hill east of the parking area. The trail will change to gravel after a short ascent, and soon drop into the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The entrance is fairly obvious, and has a nice lip for those itching for some airtime early on.

After joining the Bonneville Shoreline trail, you're in for a fairly consistent ascent with the occasional technical section. After following the trail up through a bit of a ravine, you'll find a switchback followed by a steep climb onto the side of the ridge. The trail levels out slightly following the initial climb to the ridge, allowing for some faster, cross-mountain riding. There will be one more short steep ascent before reaching the turnoff for Bobsled.

Once you've made it past the two steep ascents, you'll shortly come across a three-way split with a small pull off for taking a break before the descent. The drop in is in the middle trail of the split, and leads down into a wooded ravine between two ridges. Bobsled features a fast flowy descent through trees and old creek bed, weaving along lightning fast banked turns. While Bobsled is a very fast trail, it's extremely playful, with many different options for big features.

Further down the descent you'll find a number of jumps that gap over old rusted out cars and creek beds, as well as turn offs for drops that connect back to the trail. All these features have ride around options, allowing riders to get comfortable with the trail before sending it off a big drop.

All in all, Bobsled makes for a great ride, providing challenging options for even the best riders out there. While it may be difficult for beginners, it's a great trail to learn cornering and drifting techniques.
