Description

While this trail can be ridden in either direction, starting from Aerie Drive offers longer descents and more cross-mountain riding. Parking is available on either end, but access from the rail trail requires parking near White Pine Touring. Once finished you can take the bus back to your car on Aerie Drive, or bike back. While this trail is easily accessed without a shuttle, having access to one cuts down the time enough to make it a great lunch break ride.

Throughout the ride there are great views of Park City proper, as well as the surrounding mountains and ski resorts. During the descent there are a few rocks and roots, but otherwise Lost Prospector is a very smooth trail, great for fast descents and carving through corners.

When riding the trail from the Rail Trail entrance, the climb is significantly longer, but features a more technical descent with looser dirt and rockier sections of trail. Accessing Lost Prospector this way provides a more rigorous workout, and definitely pays off with a more challenging descent.

All in all, Lost Prospector is a great short trail, providing fast descents and rigorous climbs depending on the rider's mood. With connections to many other trails in the area, it's very easy to mix in different sections of trail to your regular ride.

Trail was in great shape. Did it from the Skid Row entry and it was a perfect loop from the Marriott/main street Sunday band stand.

Initial Prospector to Deer Valley Dr is somewhat muddy. Masonic connect to prospect is good. Prospect to skid row is muddy, lots of loose dogs. 9mi — 9h 00m

Dry, dusty but nicely wooded in places. Good blue trail rating. Someone told me to be careful of moose... But didn't see any. This is apparently… 3.8mi — 0h 44m

A great mix of flow and easy technical sections with exposed and shaded riding.
