One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Overview

The Bean Peaks is a new trail system (as of June 2024) with a number of downhill, one-way trails of varying difficulty. This loop combines two of the uphill trails with 2 of the easier downhill trails.

Need to Know

There is a sizeable parking lot at the trailhead adjacent to the White Spar campground. This parking area also serves other trails nearby.

Description

The route begins at Hub #1 and follows the uphill trail Green Bean #007 to Hub #2. Then the route follows another uphill trail Mr. Bean #007 to Hub #3. The uphill trails are accessible for 2 way traffic and hiking traffic. The trails are well groomed and built with lots of switchbacks to minimize the slope. However, it still is a rather stiff climb, but not terribly long.

From Hub #3, the route follows the easier "green" downhill trail Rice And Beans #0018 back to Hub #2. Then it follows the lower "green" trail Beany Baby #0018 back to Hub #1. The downhill trails are easier than the "blue" and "black" trails, but still have rocky features, jumps, berms and fairly steep section. Good brakes are required.

There has been controlled burning all over this area (still smoldering). Not real attractive for now, but should be beneficial to the Ponderosa forest
