Overview

This ride links up some of the funnest technical terrain on Devisadero Peak with the Talpa Traverse's flowing singletrack on a demanding endurance ride that is sure to garner respect and gratitude for these awesome trails.

Need to Know

Variations of this ride can be completed from the center of town by riding down Kit Carson Road (NM Highway 64) or starting at the Ojitos Trail Access parking lot. Bring lots of water, more than you think you'll need if it's a hot summer day.

Description

Start at the El Nogal trailhead, ride north along NM Highway 64 to Forest Road 1 (Piedmont Road), hit the connecing trails to the Devisadero Hotshot Route, down the steep side of the Devisadero Loop Trail #108, up the bottom of the SBT's El Nogal section using the South Boundary Connector #164B to access the Ojitos Trail #166 and the Talpa Traverse Trail.

At the end of the Talpa Traverse ride right onto an ATV road and pop out on Maestas Road, cruise through the neighborhood to Weimer Road, then NM Highway 585 and 64 back to the trailhead.
