“A hearty but nontechnical forest road climb takes you up towards the Monte Subasio summit.

Starting literally just outside the city gates of Assisi (Porta dei Capuccini) off of SP251, this forest road passes through olive groves and past an ancient castle tower (Ricca Minore) before a 1.6-km (1-mi) climb of 20% grade up into the forest on the side of Monte Subasio. The road then levels for a short distance until it reaches the Fonte Maddalena (spring) before resuming the climb until the intersection with the Montarone - San Giovanni (353) trail.
Moderately steep. Uneven terrain with small rocks or roots.
Sizable rocks & roots. Steep sections.
Steep. Some technical terrain and limited alternate lines.
Very steep. Technical terrain with no alternate lines.
