Description

This is a relatively nondescript forest road on the side of Monte Subasio. By mountain bike, it is easiest to reach the trail via the Fonte Maddalena forest road. Once you've reached the high point, at about the 2-km (1.2-mi) mark, the route is mercifully downhill.

Near the end of the trail, you'll reach the Rifugio le Banditelle (mountain hut) which is a good place to stop for refreshments. The route continues steeply down to the SP249, but riders should consider following the Giro del Monte Subasio along the Banditelle - Stazzi forest road.

Note that much of the route follows hiking trail #353. This route shown here, recommended for mountain biking, diverges from this official hiking trail between roughly the 0.5-1.5 mile mark to avoid an unnecessary steep climb.
